Building good friendships

This week I spent few hours with a friend who I have a great deal of respect for.
The conversation was fast paced. Exciting. We talked about my newest work project.
My friend gave me a well-thought out advice.
With examples pointing out needed improvements.
As well as generous words, praising what I did well.

What a treat! I felt lucky to have such a friend!

How do we start, and maintain, healthy, rewarding friendships?
It turns out communication is essential:

• Give support when needed; listen.
• Share your thoughts; keep friends current with what’s going on in your life.

Good friendships need balance.
It’s a give and take.

Just as important – have a positive attitude.
And, of course, keep in touch with one another.

A friend is one that knows you
as you are,
understands where you have been,
accepts what you have become,
and still,
gently allows you to grow.
